NY Yankees WIN on Walk-Off Home Run vs Red Sox
Update on the Second Best Rivalry in Sports
(2nd only to the UNC-Duke College Basketball rivalry):
The New York Yankees take game two of the four game weekend series against the Boston Red Sox on a 15th inning walk-off home run by Alex Rodriquez (A-Rod’s first walk-off home run as a Yankee, and ninth in his career). The Yankee win, which took over five and a half hours to complete, put the Yankees ahead 4.5 games in the AL East division, with two more games remaining in this weekend’s series verses the rival Red Sox.
The next best thing in Major League baseball to a New York Yankee victory is a Boston Red Sox loss, so Yankee fans doubled their pleasure for a second night in a row.
Unfortunately, the NY Yankee’s bashing of the Boston Red Sox in their previous game by a score of 13-6 lead to the Red Sox cutting starting pitcher John Smoltz (legendary former Atlanta Brave and the only pitcher with 200+ victories and 150+ saves in a career), in a knee-jerk reaction to his loss on Thursday night. Here’s hoping that Smoltz ends up on a quality Major League team in the near future… more here.
The Yankees and Red Sox face off again Saturday afternoon at 4:10 PM in new Yankee Stadium.
